New Britain, CT – September 13, 2007 – The McCue Mortgage Company announced today its first Mini-Golf Open, an indoor golf tournament to benefit the Connecticut Humane Society. The tournament will be held September 18th at the offices of McCue Mortgage with tee times of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

For the tournament, employees of the company will design and construct their own miniature golf holes. The nine-hole golf course will wind its way through different departments at the company’s One Liberty Square headquarters in New Britain. Just like other golf tournaments that are held at country clubs, sponsorships are available, and many of the company’s business partners have stepped forward as sponsors and participants.

“As in any industry, there is no shortage of golf tournaments in the real estate and mortgage business. When employees came up with the idea of hosting a miniature golf tournament in our office I thought it was unique. To my knowledge this has never been done before,” said Bill McCue, president of the McCue Mortgage Company.

The idea grew out of an employee committee that focuses on customer satisfaction. According to Mr. McCue, the committee is charged with creating “raving fans” among customers as well as employees. “Our feeling is that if our employees are happy, that has a direct impact on our customers being happy. In the past few months we have had lunchtime movies, fun team building exercises, a hula hoop contest, and even a bubble gum blowing contest,” said Gary Kulik, vice president of marketing. Other activities included managers making and serving pudding on national pudding day, hot dogs for national hot dog day, and watermelon on national watermelon day. “We’ve been pretty good at recognizing national administrative assistant’s (secretary’s) day over the years, but I didn’t realize we were missing out on these other great opportunities,” chuckled Kulik.
